  4.     FIRED. Tom Landry, 64, the only coach of the Dallas Cowboys
  5. since the team was founded 29 years ago. A brilliant,
  6. unemotional football strategist noted for never removing his
  7. hat while a game was in progress, Landry guided the Cowboys to
  8. five Super Bowl appearances, including victories in 1972 and
  9. 1978. As Landry's replacement, the Cowboys' new owner, Arkansas
  10. oilman Jerral Jones, selected his college teammate, University
  11. of Miami coach Jimmy Johnson. Said Landry: "You've taken my team
  12. away from me."
